The Last Magician

Since Europeans first established contact with the people of Papua New Guinea the country has been thrown into confusion. Do the people preserve their traditions or embrace development? Unfolding against the backdrop of the trobriand islands, this conflict is played out on a human level through the eyes of three “big men” whose viewpoints are diametrically opposed. Whilst two chiefs in Papua New Guinea debate the conflict between tradition and development, their uncle, the magic keeper tries to resolve where his spirit will go after death – Tuma, the traditional place of the death or heaven.
