The Empire

An experiment. A contest. An adventure. A strategic power struggle. The Empire is the TV event of the year on SVT. Can soap turn to exciting popular education? Sixteen men and women are taken back to medieval time and the feudal system where the power was in the hands of a rich minority. Only one person in the game is given the power to rule. The others don’t know under which conditions they must live. Some are rich, others poor. But roles may be reversed. Morale, honor and wealth are at stake. All of them have the same dream--to become the final ruler of The Empire. The Empire is the second prime time soap launched by Swedish Public TV. The first was Survivor, the original of the soaps, intensively discussed at INPUT 1998 in Stuttgart.
