THE DILEMMA OF EYA

The film is based on the social convention in Togo, that requires a girl to go for an initiation period of 1-3 years in a voodoo convent. The conflict between this practice and the requirements of normal schoolwork gives our heroine, Eya, serious problems. She decides to leave her village and make a life for herself in the city. In the film the sentiments of the filmmakers are voiced by the heroine and her friends, Awa and Adjo, and the script incorporates real scenes as well as fiction.
