In “Supermaterialism” the director examines his own weakness for consumerism. Søren Faurli is responsible for screenplay, direction and the lead role. He sets himself an assignment – a great assignment for any consumer: the chance of plundering a TV store, or more accurately, of taking away all he can carry in the space of five minutes. He has five days in which to get ready. We watch him exercising and visiting his chiropractor – he´s got back trouble (fact or fiction?). Urged on by a friend he visits a psychologist, his parents and the Danish minister of economic affairs (no less) to seek out the reasons for his over-consumption. He goes over the route through the TV store the day before, turns up for the big day itself, and just grabs and grabs. “Supermaterialism” was produced by Dansk Novellefilm (New Fiction Film Denmark), a new Danish film body funded by the national public service broadcasters DR TV and TV 2 / Danmark, the Danish Film Institute, the National Film Board of Denmark and the Ministry for Cultural Affairs. The purpose of Dansk Novellefilm is to develop new talent in the field of Danish Fiction.
