Young children struggle against life-threatening diseases. The philosophic courage of those much older and wiser. This inspiring film pays tribute to their indomitable spirit, while reminding us that a well-fought battle does not always lead to victory. The striking things about this documentary are the courage and generosity of its participants. The courage and generosity of those we see on the screen (children and the parents of children afflicted with incurable diseases), and the courage of those who generously offer us a subject as difficult as this. The presentation is at the same time daring and restrained. This is a real-life, well-constructed documentary which has succeeded in evoking the right view of the subject, profoundly human and touching, but restrained, objective and intensely accurate. This is high-quality reporting, reporting at its best.
