Stardust: In 1981 a nightclub fire in Dublin killed 48 working class teens. Twenty-five years later, the victims remain largely uncompensated. Some argue this is because of their social background and lack of political clout. This serial drama tells the story of what came before and after this seminal disaster in Ireland's history. Two months before the drama screened, newspapers and radio erupted with controversy...the victims and the public demanding the series NOT be shown...they repeatedly asked: how can drama, which is entertainment, truly serve this topic? They wanted a documentary. As a result, both a drama and a current affairs program were screened.
