Sonia

Sonia Tells the story of a 60 year-old woman, a professor of art and painting who is fulfilled and happy. Until her lapses of memory begin to worry those around her, in particular her daughter Roxanne, played by Paule Baillargeon. This dramatic film, with a script written in collaboration with the American scriptwriter Laura Harrington, gives an accurate account of the early stages of the development of Alzheimer´sDisease. But the subject is approached essencially from its human aspects more than the medical or scientific aspects. Finally Sonia is a film about love which poses a question almost as cruel as sickness itself: on the eve of the year 2000, what responsability do we have when a person close to us loses her autonomy.
