After having fled Pol, Rithy Panh, a 15 year old Cambodian fins refuge at the Mairut camp in Thailand. Ten years later, now a film-maker, he returns to the camps along the Cambodian border to film the daily like of this threatened people. There he meets men and women who for years have been waiting for a possible return to Cambodia. The distribution of rice and water shows up the precarious existence of this exiled population, eaten away by inactivity, insecurity and the fear of being forgotten. [extract from the film only]
