In the series of programmes called “Het Levenslied” (Sentimental Song)”, two well-known Dutch people talk with each other about the sense of being alive and about the meaning of death in their existence. In this episode, the two people are Paul de Leeuw and Bischop Bär. Bischop Bär became the subject of scandal because of his alleged homosexuality. Several month ago he resigned his post as Bischop of Rotterdam and now lives in seclusion in a monastery. Paul de Leeuw is the enfant terrible among the Dutch television programme hosts, and a cabaret performer. He is a self-admitted homosexual. Paul de Leeuw chose Bishop Bär to talk with. The two discuss saying farewell to loved ones, the death of friends, their own death and life after death. They also talk about homosexuality, the Roman Catholic Church and the priesthood. At the end of the programme, the two quests sing a song to each other.
