Scenographic Attack On Groningen

In Groningen, the town in the middle of Northern Holland, known as cultural centre with many universities and colleges, there was in 91 an extraordinary meeting of European student set-designers. The students from nearly all European theatre-designing schools took part with their own ideas and performances. Together they formed an unforgettable seven days happening called 'Out of Frames.' Was it a meeting of avantgarde? Or only of future conformists? Originality or insanity? Enthusiasm? Calm? Panic? Those who were personally present said it was 'superb.' 'Groningen will grab you. It´ll nab you. It´ll attack you. Which is why you have to know to defend yourself. The best form of defence is attack. And the best form of attack is in set design.'
