Every city has its heart: Picadilly Circus in London, Time Square in New York... The heart of Barcelona is the Ramblas, between the city center and the harbor. For centuries, Bar-celona´s life and history have revolved around this sweet, where people from all walks of live gather to enjoy that old favorite Mediterranean pastime: watching people go by, or passing by to be watched. The episode of “Private Lives” takes us to the Ramblas to meet and get to know some of the people who, over the years, have become permanent fixtures of the place: the florist, the man who sells tickets for the public seating, the human statue, the porn actress. Thousands of people walk by them but very few stop to listen. But this is no travelogue, the program goes beyond the superficiality of the postcards cliché, and reveals the bittersweet side of life. “Private Lifes” is a documentary series about people who are deeply attached to where they live; people who love their native land. Each program focuses on 15 people who talk about their memories and recall personal anecdotes from the past, relating, either directly or indirectly, to the landscape and the surroundings in which they grew up.
