The documentary Pictures of Love asks a simple question. What do the pictures that people make of love look like? To answer it we must brave the overwhelming and endless archives of private fi lm makers. What did they fi lm? How did they fi lm the object of their affections, their beloved? What was the setting? The fi lm incoporates selected private archive materials to explore manifestations of love. Whether at a wedding, on holiday or even in the bedroom, the beloved is at the centre of it all as lover, a wife or degraded into a sex object. A trip ranging from kitsch to art, from the banal to the darkest depths of the most private secrets.
