In this film the viewer is presented with practically all the Tolstoy footage filmed by Russians and foreigners from 1908-1910- The film itself is built as a story about the filming of these chronicles as told by a journalist of the Russian cinema magazine “Cine-Foto.” His life was typical – he emigrated from Russia after the revolution and now, in the ´30s, wandering across Europe, he recalls Russia and how he met with Tolstoy. Much of the Tolstoy footage is unique and is being shown for the first time. The film consists only of archive material; not a shot has been made during its production.
