Rita Atria is the daughter of Vito Atria, one of the Sicilian mafia capos, murdered in 1985, and the sister of Nicola Atria, murdered in 1991. At a very young age Rita rebelled and began nourishing the hope to revenge her father and brother. Alternating between suspense and fatalism, the documentary retraces the desperate battle of one young woman against her destiny, a battle against the disorder which will inevitably and tragically unfold. How can television present the testimony of people whose lives are in danger? How can the first film by a young author, based on Rita´s private diary, family films and news archives, portray an individual´s battle in its singularity, while respecting, not sensationalizing, its emotion? This documentary is part of a nine film collection devoted to major contemporary crime.
