Murder One is a portrait of six men who were sentenced to death for the crime of first degree murder. These portraits are made up of interviews with the convicts themselves, relatives of their victims, friends, family members, witnesses and individuals in the criminal justice system. The viewer has an opportunity to meet these people, and to learn why they took a human life – how the situation came about, how they view their actions and what they feel about the justice system in regard to their situation. The three men in North Carolina were sentenced under a mandatory death law which was subsequently struck down by the Supreme Court. The three in Georgia are still facing death.
