Stories have been occupying and entertaining mankind since language has existed – realistic, mythical, fairytales, historical and everyday stories. Some of them become books, images or films. Some of them remain where they have been created: in the minds of their inventors. The Viennese director Michael Glawogger placed the following ad in some newspaper: “Do you have a movie in the mind? Our project “movies in the mind” needs people who would like to talk about their stories, ideas and visions in front of a camera and complete parts of them” In nine moths he had received 113 screenplays and 78 treatments and some 204 exposés an untold stories. He finally select ten authors/directors and wannabe directors. In front of the camera, these ten people told what they envisioned for the screen . Their styles and genres are as different from each other as the personalities of the storytellers themselves. Each film in this film has its original face and is yet part of a whole. What is portrayed is not only their movies, but the people who invented them, and who often have concrete perceptions of the artistic transformation. “Movies in the Mind” is a film about the ways of story telling a film which combines new stories, scenes and moods more than a single film with a single story could ever do.
