The sets: A pension for women and wine store. The characters: A landlady with her residents and the wine merchant. The story: Laura falls in love with Paul. She cultivates her education in classical voice, has many friends and problems with her personal schedule. Paul, formerly a doctor until he felt that he lacked altruism and passion , drank himself consequently from the hospital to the wine store. Laura lives in the pension with some curious neurotic women. Everybody longs for something they cannot find. Their ability to take care of each other is not genuine. All they are able to feel is their emotional poverty. That film is a comedy about women, who keep friendship until they find something better. They found each other at the pension because they were fed up and wanted to be alone –a comedy with a man who has decided to live a life without demands- and a story of a love affair full of projections. The press comments: Postmodernist yuppie-comedy... melancholically designed female version of Doris Dörrie’s “Männer” (taz)A compact and exact film, well composed... it is a great pleasure to watch a movie made by someone who knows his business –refreshing and nasty at the same time. (Die Zeit)The soft-colored love story reminds of the films of Eric Rohmer (Gong)
