This was a documentary discovered forty years after it was made. It was made by British, American and Russian cameramen who accompanies the Allied forces when they liberated the Nazi death camps in 1945. Its editing was done , in part, under the supervision of Alfred Hitchcock. However, for various reason, the film was never fully completed, and was only recently discovered in the vaults of the Imperial War Museum in London. The FRONTLINE documentary series decided to broadcast this film, as closely as possible to what its producers intended forty years ago, as a documentary record of the awful legacy of Nazi Germany. It is a unique historical record containing extraordinary and never-before-seen scenes of Nazi atrocities. The original narration, written by the producers in 1946, is recorded by Trevor Howard.
