This film is about being the missing father. The father who denied his own flesh and blood. Thomas Heurlin, the director, is the father of a daughter, Karina, now 21 years old, whose existence he denied during her childhood and adolescence. The film illustrates a very painful process and reveals layer after layer the problems of personal lives and the strange nature of 'social heritage'. The filmmaker is unusually honest, he certainly does not picture himself a 'hero' in this film, and he is not hiding his own mistakes. This makes it a genuine film. At the same time it also raises the question of how far you should go. Should this remain a private matter? Is it in the interest of the daughter, the mother, the grandfather, etc. to be in this film? This film is also unusual in a Danish context - being slightly inhibited the Danes are not used to such an exposure of personal lives.
