“LIVING WITH IT” is a documentary which lets four HIV positive people speak for themselves. Four people who reveal what they felt when they learned that the result of the screening test was positive and talk about the road they were on thereafter. This delicate subject, which has been frequently tackled in recent years, is now dealt with by Daniel Schweizer, an independent filmmaker, with positive concern, a real sense of propriety and the intention not to over-dramatize. By associating these four people with the making of the film (which required over sic months of preparation) Daniel Schweizer allowed them to be closely involved, and thus avoided the “aggression” of a report made by an outsider. They do not appear as victims but as active human beings who confront their illness. All those who saw this film, especially young people, were particularly affected by the choice of these four people, their very personal tone, and the great attention given to them. Shown in cinemas and then on television, “LIVING WITH IT” has been extremely successful.
