Jokes... or love departed

Jokes tells the difficult story of a husbandless mother taking her two small sons to visit their grandparents in a Coney Island old age home. Faith’s father, a self-involved Yiddish poet, dreams of escaping his fate by leaving the home; while her mother has made a sad, if pragmatic, peace with life at “the last station”. By the end of this explosive afternoon, Faith, her father and mother, and the kids have learned something from each other about loneliness, death and the value of love in defiance of life’s disappointments.
