Franzstadt is the old name of a district in the heart of Budapest. A few years after the change of the regime, a bitter disappointment replaced hope. The atmosphere of decline looms overt the streets, disillusioned, blundering people live from hand to mouth in fear of eviction. Policemen, bailliffs and petty criminals improbable surrealist characters, carry out their duties among the underprivileged.
