The young director tells the story of her family: Four women trying to build up a life excluding the past. But a lifetime of denial threatens to destroy the three generations of women. The filmmaker’s need to uncover the past forces confrontation and finally frees the family from the grip of its secrets. She and her sister went to Italian schools, but at home a wild mixture of languages were spoken – Spanish, Polish, German. Their grandmother never spoke about the past, and she always seemed to be angry. Their mother was bound inextricably to the ice-hard grandmother. Caterina found their Venezuelan passports and saw that her mother was born in Poland in 1940, and that her grandmother’s name was different in her passport. What was their secret?
