Hey, don´t touch that eject button. Maybe you don’t like wrestling, maybe you don´t even get it. But as Hitman Hart says, 'Wrestling is not just wrestling.' Is that why the reviewers are talking about Shakespeare, Kafka, Barthes? Well, watch and find out. Over the span of a year, a documentary crew followed Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, wrestling´s favorite good guy and five-time WWF Champion. He is the son of wrestling legend Stu Hart, a tough man with a dark streak and 12 kids, all of whom got into the business. The filmmakers hoped for an unprecedented look behind the scenes of the WWF. What they got was the most dramatic story in the history of wrestling. In the midst of filming, a scandal centering on Hart and WWF owner Vince McMahon unfolded right before the cameras. Before Hart leaves the WWF for the upstart rival WCW, McMahon tells Hart he must lose his WWF title in a match. Hart will do it, but not in his native Canada. That was the deal, or so Hart thought. The Hart story would end in anger, tears, bitter recriminations and an outburst of unscripted violence… and turn a behind-the-scenes wrestling documentary into an epic drama. 'Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows' is a story about loyalty and betrayal, money and greed, dignity and disgrace. It´s about fathers and sons, fans and icons, and keeping one´s integrity in a world of moral uncertainty. In a word, it´s a film about being human.
