(dilemmas in an inner-city hospital in Holland) The trilogy “Hard Choices” has been completed, but not yet broadcast in Holland. The film is about the dilemmas facing doctors, nursing staff, patients, and their families. The dilemmas are not just medical – for instance, when to turn off the oxygen. The aggression of patients, cultural differences and language problems can stand in the way of the right treatment. What is best is not always clear. “Hard Choices” shows from the inside how decisions are made, who or what is decisive and the criteria used. In Holland, the trilogy has been described by some colleagues as “more impressive” than “Near Death” by Frederick Wiseman.
