Excerpts from a 3 hour live network program entitled 'People talking back'

The excerpts submitted for screening attempt to give some indication of the range of content and the production techniques used in three hour live network program broadcast in every part of Canada with participants from every section of the country joining in a national debate on a number of broad themes of concern to Canada.The five broad topics were: difference among Canadians, politicians and the media and why we distrust both of them, winners and losers in the economy, job satisfaction and disaffection in the work place and how do we proceed from here.Discussion was triggered by man on the street film clips prepared in advance from every section of the country, by background documentary material, by original skits produced live in front of an audience in Edmonton, by specially written songs presented in same fashion, by so-called experts who were called upon to respond to comments and criticisms from the audience in Edmonton and from the groups of people who were able to join in the debate by satellite from CBC studios in every Canadian Province.
