Documenta 1997 was not only conceived by its curator Catherine David as the most important exhibition of avant-garde works, but also as a daily forum for themes relating to the turn of the milennium. On questions of urban development, problems of over-population and migration, trend-setting impulses and ideas are intended to be generate by Documenta 97. In addition to the 120 painters, video artists and Internet artists and their works, which are exhibited in Kassel, intellectuals and contemporary figures who have something to contribute on these themes will appear daily and enrich the dialogue. The 9th Documenta will have a daily experience character. Arte wishes to provide it in cooperation with Hessischer Rundfunk and WDR with television presence. We want to devote three minutes each day to the art happening: a selection of the most important artists and contributions from the most interesting daily generators of ideas are planned to be linked together or contrasted in such a way that the spirit of Dokumenta is captured by our series. Each individual report should be complete in itself and have its individual artistic value, a kind of 100 master works of Dokumenta. This special selection for Input contains nine pieces about following artists: Pawel Althamer, Peter Fried/Kino, Mariella Mosler, Wolf Singer/Martin Walde, Mike Davies, Kerry James Marshall, Johan Grimoprez/Asselberghs, Gerhard Richter, Carsten Höller/Rosemarie Trockel..
