A middle-aged couple, Ana and Stephan, try in the times of war, chaos, sanctions, misery to preserve the remnants of their quiet and dignified way of life. They are both prematurely retired, he because of heart trouble, she because there was a suficit of staff in her school. Their children, escaping the look of opportunity, have left for some foreign country and rarely write. It´s getting harder and harder to survive from one pension to another. But Stephen is lucky to work part time in his old firm – he was a good accountant, and Ana knits woolen caps and sells them at flea markets. That´s how they cope with the terrible crises that destroys all basic human and social values. And then... Stephan loses his temporary job. He becomes edgy, irritable, fights with friend who, in order to survive, do deals contrary to all ethical norms. His frustration is also directed at his wife, who, he thinks, is degrading herself by knitting and selling caps at flea markets. Anger and frustration mount inside him, anger against everything and everyone, and the only object that he can vent it on is his wife who, all the time, tries to show care and tenderness, to make him feel better, to make him as he once was. But, to no awail...
