The doctor’s white coat is a symbol of knowledge and high standing. Doctors have a great deal of power over their fellow citizens and earn a lot of money. Through investigative journalism the program makers reveal how some doctors systematically sign false sick notes and are paid under the table. With hidden cameras and microphones, indisputable evidence is obtained concerning the doctor’s deeds, something which the authorities have not bothered about previously. Reactions to the program have been far-reaching and the consequences not yet fully clear. The person responsible for the program and Sveriges Television have been sued for slander by a couple of the exposed doctors and the trial will take place before Input 92. The health insurance authorities have started an investigation of some doctors’ work. In general both the public and the media were positive to this program.
