Sérgio Bianchi is the only contemporary filmmaker that has the courage to represent the social war that Brazil is going through. He makes a realistic portrait of the elite's domination and the social conflict. From the table of a chic restaurant the six characters lead you into a terrific journey and make you see what you always denied yourself to watch. This is a moral fable about the absurdity of an unjust and incompetent society. It tackles in a crude and slightly ironic way an incredible list of issues, from environment to human organs, to traffic. It is a fiction with a documentary tone that gives unity to the film and likelihood to the absurd. The film tells the story of six characters: Alfredo, Amanda, Adam, Carlos, Luis and Maria Alice, showing the difficulties of mental and physical survival in the chaos of Brazilian society which affects everybody, rich and poor alike. It was done last year (2000) when Brazil was celebrating its 500 years.
