In Denmark we have a tradition for TV Christmas calendars. In the month of December every TV channel have their own calendar in 24 episodes either for small children, families or adults. Christmas at Vesterbro is a calendar in a humours style for adults broadcasted on the na-tional public service station DR2. Each episode is approx. 13 min. The actor and stand-up performer Anders Matthesen plays all the 10 parts in the calendar which adds extra points to the humour of the text. The story takes place at the poor area in Copenhagen called Vesterbro where junkies, streetpeople and poor persons live. Stewart Stardust used to be a sailor but now trying to keep his apartment by selling hot dogs from his stand in front of the government building. But the stand is broken. Some Muslims insist on repairing the stand. But it’s a hard job! We also meet Stewart’s son Danny. Danny is junkie and just released from prison and boyfriend to the junkiegirl Randi who is pregnant with Danny. Arne is a social worker and trying to keep the family on right side of the law and Greta is the bitchy housekeeper. The question is if anybody will have a merry Christmas?
