Brass Eye is a savagely satirical and sometimes surreal 'Light Entertainment” programme. This programme was transmitted after months of anxious, explosive and sensational journalism in the British tabloid media about paedophilia – naming names, publishing photos of actual and suspected paedophiles, causing public disturbances, community riots, marches, attacks on the person and property of those suspected. A witch hunt. The programme reflected the public outrage, concern, panic and hysteria in a series of outrageous sketches, interviews, exaggerations, phoney science and sociology. It includes the deliberate deception of renowned public figures into giving ludicrous testimony.
