It specifically sets out to address the priorities and interests of British blacks, mainly of West Indian extraction. It is probably the first such regular series, and certainly the first consistently to attract a high level of attention, and on occasion, controversy. The programme is generally regarded as successful and in a poll of blacks in London was voted best TV programme of 1983, ahead of DALLAS.
