Was 'Black Leo' simply a villian, a curel violent man without feelings? To his various friends and acquaintences, his women, hi mates, and the police chasing him, he was. But he was omething more as well. To some he was a generous man, open-hearted, who was exploited by many: to others he was a man who, altohough forced into a life of crime by the society in which he lived, had deep reserves of sensitivity. The life of the infamous villain of Praça Mauá (a poor area in the centre of Rio) shows us a complex character, capable of reacting in the most unexpected ways, and who is difficult to sum-up in a few words. In one respect, however, opinion i unanimous: the tragedy of Leo´s last years was more than enough punishment for his crimes. Based on the novel by Chico Anysio. A reporter tries to reconstruct the real personality and life of 'Black' Leo after his death through interviews with the people who knew him. The two main characters are invisible: the reporter is the camera and Leo himself is a shared memory.
