« Belonging » is a 60’ documentary film which focuses on adoption as a process which unfolds in different ways at various stages of life of an adopted child and those close to him.The film follows a number of people through a dramatic period related to one phase of the adoptive process. It reveals the grieving of a young woman as she gives up her child for adoption and the pain she feels as she speculates about the questions her baby will ask as she grows up. Juxtaposed, is the search of Scott, a young adult looking for his mother, because he feels he must know his own origin.We see a family with three adoptive children and one biological child and hear them talk about day to day happenings common to all families and the special problems which may arise as a result of adoption.Pam and Mark, a young couple waiting to adopt a child, talk about the frustration of infertility and the long wait. Finally, we rejoice with them as they bring their baby home to begin life as a family.
