This documentary series takes a look at the lawyers of the Montreal Legal Aid Office as well as their clients. Their stories bear witness to important societal issues and encourage us to think about the consequences of, among other things, poverty for the population. Each year, the Office receives nearly 72,000 requests to open a file. By following the daily lives of six passionate and committed jurists, we gain access to rich and complex human stories that tackle different social issues head- on. A range of realities is covered: theft, threats, separations and child custody, domestic violence, housing evictions, homelessness, consumption, mental health and even homicide. In a society where not everyone has the same opportunities, legal aid lawyers are the last defenses. This series introduces us to excellent lawyers. They meticulously search their files and work tirelessly. They truly believe in their work and do it out of conviction. Their mission is social and their cause is just: offering legal services to the most vulnerable. They all have one thing in common: They have social justice at heart.
