A little French circus with trained mice visits Sweden. Their first performance creates an uproar. The group behaves in a highly provocative manner, and many people in the audience take offence. Their second performance is stopped by the authorities. The misunderstanding between the French circus artists and the Swedish drama teachers who have invited them only increase. The whole affair ends in an open confrontation. In an interview on their return to Paris the circus artists vent their spleen on Sweden and the Swedes: “It’s terrible to live with zombies, with the living dead. There we are going around Stockholm frightened of these monsters, tough as we are. They say we’re racists. Right. In France we have our ‘desert rats’. In New York they have their ‘niggers’. For us it’s the Swedes.” What is the significance of the program for input? This is a film about a cultural confrontation between a very provocative French group of artists and the Swedish group that invited them. No effort is made to hide the hard words and feelings.
