Ban the burka

This programme is one of a series from the popular Canadian sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie. Controversy arises in Mercy when a new woman shows up in town wearing a burka (full body covering). Sarah feels it’s oppressive while Fred just finds it creepy. Rayyan defends burkas, saying it’s the woman’s choice to wear it. When Sarah finds an old law banning face coverings in town, she thinks she’s struck a blow for women’s rights but when someone close to her gets arrested for the offence, Sarah’s not so sure.
