Azeri (Muslims) and Armenians (Christians, half Catholics and half Orthodox) have been fighting a bloody war for the possession of a province called Nagorno-Karabak, a piece of land in the Caucases mountains now included in the Republic of Azerbaijan, but mostly inhabited by Armenians and Georgians. In his story, Mustafayev shows the distribution of the coffins of the fallen soldiers to their families, with a lot of misunderstanding created by the incompetence of the Azeri army, such as giving back the wrong corpses to the grieving parents, or mixing Muslim corpses with Christian ones. All this takes place in the oil-rich cosmopolitan capital of Baku on the Caspian Sea, where Azeri, Armenians and Georgians have been living peacefully, or more or less peacefully, for centuries. An amusing piece of black humor and a strong pacifist and humanitarian inspiration, so desperately needed in this period of senseless local conflicts.
