This is a highly visual documentary about personal transformation. When Jennifer Crawford chose to tackle issues of addiction and mental health head-on six years ago, they began a journey to sobriety with many twists and turns: from winning MasterChef Canada, returning to their home province of Nova Scotia, to chasing a childhood dream of becoming a pro-wrestler. Bump and Feed combines creative visual storytelling and heartfelt narration to recount the forces that created Crawford’s wrestling alter ego, Moon Miss (an ice cream pun that only a true Maritimer can use). Crawford’s story unfolds like a wrestling match; following a time- tested structure of six parts designed to tell the ultimate morality tale of good against bad. Crawford’s transformation is punctuated by both. And while their rookie year on the local wrestling scene was defined by a fast rise to popularity, a split second in the ring changed everything. Bump and Feed was written and produced out of CBC’s Halifax, Nova Scotia, newsroom between June 2022 and February 2023.
