The largest abortion case in the Federal Republic of Germany took place in Memmingen in 1988 / 89. A doctor had to face trial, accused of 156 illegal abortions. Prior to the hearing approximately 200 women had been found guilty, as the court saw no legally necessary case of plight. This trial and its past history is demonstrated in the play by Norbert Kückelmann, in a condensed form, with alienation of names and circumstances. His film does not take sides in this question: the termination of a pregnancy within the first three months, or medical grounds for terminating a pregnancy. But the film shows openly, and with sympathy the women involved and the doctor who wanted to help them.
