Dr. Lászlo Lékai, archbishop of Esztergom, cardinal, primate of Hungary, shows besides the cardinal’s life history, the development of the relationship between the Roman Catholic church and the Hungarian State. This relationship is basically harmonic since both parties have a sincere will to cooperate. The film reveals, however, that there are still tasks to be solved, i.e., barriers to be lifted to facilitate this cooperation. The title of the film refers both to Dr. Lászlo Lékai’s personal fate and all that the film wants to tell us.Hungarian State Television goes to Hungary’s top religious personality: Cardinal Lékai talks about his life, career, the activity of his Church and the relation between Church and State in Hungary in the last 40 years. The subject of this documentary is entirely new within its own broadcast constituency.
