The main character of this episode of Silver Dream is a 74-year old man who lives on his own. A survivor of the 21 September 1999 earthquake, Taiwan's most devastating in a century, he was stirred to action by another natural disaster last year. In the aftermath of Typhoon Morikot in August 2009, not only did he put his dream into action and reach out as a volunteer to survivors, he also summoned the inner fortitude to patch things up to varying degrees with his daughters, from whom he had been estranged for decades. The production provides an unvarnished candid look into family relationships and interaction. Its authenticity is both refreshing and stirring.
