This is the story of three remarkable women:CORDELIA EDVARDSON, poet, author and middle east correspondent for the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.ANGELIKA SCHROBSDORFF, author of several novels based on her extraordinary biography.INGE DEUTSCHKRON, author and former correspondent for the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv.All three women were born in Berlin before World War II, into totally different social and economic circumstances. Yet, their early childhood had one thing in common –a clear, unquestioned German identity.The rise of nazism put an end to a life certainties adolescence, they were able to face reality courageously, without indulging in self pity.After the war a slow healing process set in and with it came a growing awareness. Wavering between Germany and elsewhere, while testing their identity and belonging, all three women finally came to a turning point: they chose Judaism and Israel. Fully aware and willing they accepted this time the jewishness, once thrust upon them by the racial laws of Nazi Germany.The film follows the three women from Europe to Israel, and concludes with their present life –showing them confronting Israel’s imperfect reality.
