This documentary juxtaposes personal accounts, dramatic recreations and archival material in a deeply ironic interpretation of history – all done in the light of the new freedom in Hungary. By interweaving many individual stories with footage of a dance music festival, the documentary builds a choir of voices which condemns the hypocritical East Bloc occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. It also dramatizes the tragic story of a teenage boy who said “no” to the hypocrisy and to communism by dousing himself with kerosene and striking a match. [trailer available only]
