Bye Bye Africa is a work that mixes documentary and fiction. Telling the story of an African filmmaker who returns to his native land following the death of his mother, the film touches on different problems revolving around the cinema crisis in today´s Chadian society. The action takes place in the capital city of N´Djamena as the filmmaker chooses settings for his next film and is confronted by various obstacles inherent to the current situation of cinema in Tchad. In parallel, through the story of an actress rejected by her friends and family after playing the role of an AIDS patient, Bye Bye Africa proposes a reflection on the status of film in Africa. This film also raises the issue of the line between fiction and reality.
