The envisioned book

“Vita brevis”, the collected work of Maurice Gilliams has been made into a television transcript based on the principal items included in the book. The central figure is Elias who is seen successively as a child, a youth and an adult. He is shown in confrontation with his mother, his aunt Henriette and the woman he loves, in his quest for self-knowledge and understanding. Aloysius, another character who appears at intervals, embodies an idealized alter ego who also stands for the ideal of freedom which Elias is pursuing.
