The backyard editorial
“UFOs and other objects” is the third programme in the second series of “The Backyard Editorial” – the message on this programme seemingly being: Anything might happen… In the first series the office of the editors (Poul, the interviewer; and Nulle, the fixer) was in fact in an old backyard building, but being kicked out of that, because of urban renewal, the second series took place in a pub – or so it was intended. Just before production of the third programme the editors were kicked out again and had to find a new location on the last minute. They decided therefore to occupy all the washing-machines in a Laundromat, and invite the guest of the programme to that place. That is why Mr. Peter Hansen – chairman of Scandinavian UFO Information – is there among all the machines, talking of his experiences with Ufos, and how to detect them. Being briefed by him, Poul takes off on his own to see if anything supernatural might happen. At the same time Nulle is taking care of a performance by Mr. Pierre René Honnens, noted celloplayer of the Royal Symphony Orchestra. Surprisingly, Poul finds himself on the training ground of some young strip-teasers, making him so interested in the more creative side of the subject, that he continues to the ballet-school of the Royal Theatre, having made a brief appointment with Nulle to find him there. Nulle’s search turns out to be quiet difficult, as Poul has ended up with solo-dancer Jonhny Eliassen, somewhere in the labyrint of the theatre-complex. But is the end it all leads up to the morale of the programme: Never put wool in heat-washing!. What is the significance of the program for input? The programme is trying to put a journalistic message through the frame work of a comedy-series.
