Our aim is to understand the major obstacles that face the handicapped in their romantic and sexual life and to discuss with them possible solutions and arrangements. How do they live their sexuality depending on their ability to get around, their dependency, their autonomy, as well as their place of residence, which is usually an institution? Despite these physical, medical and psychological barriers and despite the negative image they reflect, what possibilities do the handicapped have to express the fullest? What are the available means and possible solutions that will allow the handicapped, usually considered as a-sexual, to reappropriate an identity and sexual life of their own? The problem concerns all forms of human sexuality and provides food for thought on our own 'normal' sexuality.
