All children at some time or other decide they want to go and live somewhere else. That they want another father or brother, or to live in a different area. 11-year-old Tatjana would like to have another mother. Her mother has a brain disease, leaving her unable to walk and talk well. Tatjana is ashamed of her, she wants an ordinary, healthy mother. Tatjana asks her father if he would ever remarry. But he says that when mother dies, they will stay behind together. This summer, the family is under much pressure. Father has resigned his job to set up a café for himself. Eventually, the moment comes that the café is finished and the beach season can begin. For mother, all the necessary precautions have been taken. The family is to spend the summer in the caravan behind the beach café. At the opening party of the café, Tatjana solemnly celebrates a decision she had taken earlier: 'I love my mother.'
